Mulch is one of the highest-leverage things you can do for your landscape — when it's installed correctly. The biggest mistake we see is too much of it.
Annual refresh isn't always needed
If you have 2–3 inches of clean mulch already, you don't need to add a full layer every year. A light top-dress is plenty.
Depth matters more than frequency
Mulch should be 2–3 inches deep — never more. Mulch volcanoes against tree trunks rot bark and kill trees over 5–10 years.
Edges make the difference
A re-cut bed edge does more for curb appeal than any color of mulch. We always re-edge before we mulch.
